The Telegram-based game Notcoin will airdrop within two weeks
After releasing a trailer earlier today that resembled a glitch, Notcoin confirmed that the “mining phase” of the game will end on April 1st. However, the “glitch” raised more questions than answers: Is April 1st the day of the airdrop? Have Notcoin players been waiting for this? Or, is the Notcoin team playing an April Fool’s joke on their massive player base of 30 million?
Notcoin is a viral clicker game, with millions of Telegram users earning in-game currency by tapping on a coin graphic on their phone screens. Initially, it was unclear whether the coins in the game could be exchanged for real cryptocurrency, but the team recently confirmed that the airdrop is indeed happening via the Open Network (TON).
Players logging into the Notcoin game on Monday encountered a strange, glitch-like graphic briefly stating “7 days” before disappearing.
The team also shared a post in the Notcoin community channel that included a clip from “Avengers: Endgame” (revisiting a scene from “Guardians of the Galaxy”) with a caption stating “the mining phase will end on April 1st.” The post continued to thank members of the Notcoin community for joining the journey so far, in the game’s typically mysterious Notcoin style.
The message read: “The team developed this application, but you saw something.” “Something that did not match people’s expectations. Ridiculous, but sensible. You got it. This is all of you. Myself and all the contributors thank each one of you for building it day and night, together with you.”
While no announcement explicitly stated when the token will launch, a representative for Notcoin confirmed that the airdrop will take place within the next two weeks. Even though the mining phase is coming to an end, the game is not over. More information about the next phase of Notcoin will be released after the mining phase concludes.
