On May 24, the on-chain voting for the Arbitrum community’s “200 million ARB Game Catalyst Program” proposal will officially begin. This proposal aims to provide a three-year incentive plan totaling 200 million ARB to support the Arbitrum ecosystem’s games, driving the Arbitrum gaming ecosystem through studios and games in the Web3 industry. This voting will end on June 7, and based on the snapshot voting results conducted in March, it is expected that this on-chain vote will pass smoothly.
Among the biggest beneficiaries will be the L3 gaming chain XAI ecosystem, directly supported and assisted in development by Arbitrum. As a dedicated gaming blockchain network, what quality games and projects has the XAI ecosystem attracted? This article will highlight six blockchain games in the XAI ecosystem.
Crypto Unicorns
Crypto Unicorns is a pet collection and simulation game developed by Laguna Games. In March 2022, Crypto Unicorns raised $26 million through a token sale, led by metaverse company TCG and venture capital fund Backed VC, with participation from BITKRAFT Ventures, Delphi Digital, Infinity Venture Crypto, Polygon Studios, CoinFund, BreederDAO, Emfarsis, and ACME Capital.
The gameplay of Crypto Unicorns includes farm management, jousting, racing, and team RPG battles, with different unicorns better suited for different game mechanics due to their varying abilities. In farm management, land NFTs form the basis of all activities. Players can use land to increase productivity and create materials to upgrade buildings. This allows players to customize their farms and showcase them to the world by combining individual lands into communities, making the design suitable for highly social gameplay.
Initially built on the Polygon blockchain network, Crypto Unicorns announced its migration to XAI earlier this year. The game is currently paused and expected to relaunch at the end of June. During the migration, Crypto Unicorns converted its RBW token to $CU at a 10:1 exchange ratio. As of May 24, the CU token price was approximately $0.37, with a weekly increase of about 36%.
Tarochi Game
Tarochi Game is the first full-chain RPG game released on XAI, developed by Paima Studios. Paima Studios created Paima, a Web3 engine optimized for games, gamification, and autonomous worlds, allowing Web3 applications to be built within days and enabling on-chain games to be built using web2 technology.
Tarochi adopts a retro pixel art style, set in an immersive, autonomous decentralized world. The gameplay of Tarochi bears some similarities to Pokemon, where players embark on adventures, complete quests, explore, battle, and capture monsters.
The core of the Tarochi universe is its dynamic monster ecosystem, with each monster inhabiting the game’s wilderness areas, available for players to fight or capture. These monsters come in different rarity levels, including common and uncommon with unlimited supply, rare, epic, and legendary with daily supply limits, and limited editions available only during specific events.
Before its launch in February this year, the NFT Genesis Trainer series of Tarochi sold out within 31 hours. On the first day of release, over 7,000 unique players interacted with Tarochi, generating more than 300,000 transactions.
Valeria Games
Valeria Games plans to launch two game products. The real-time strategy game “Valeria: Land Before the War” is available for Android and iOS platforms and is currently in the alpha stage. The game offers various gameplay options, including summoning, training, evolving, and battling Valerians while advancing the storyline, as well as participating in player-vs-player battles, quests, dungeons, survival modes, and tournaments.
The physical card game “Valeria: Phygital Card Game” is a tabletop game that combines the tangible appeal of physical card games with digital NFTs. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that each card has a QR code, which, when scanned, provides a digital version of the card NFT, blending real-life and online gaming.
Additionally, Valeria Games is developing a third product, a digital comic series set in the Valeria universe. This official webcomic will explore the world of Valeria, filled with magical creatures, resource-rich lands, and ongoing battles. The comic follows the journey of the protagonist, Favian, who grows from a nature enthusiast into a warrior fighting against conquerors.
Final Form
Final Form is a digital card-based rogue-lite combat game developed by Ex Populus. Players use limited edition cards, summon companions, mutants, and relics to build increasingly powerful combat decks. Winning battles earns Chromos, the fuel for evolution in the game. The rarer the cards, the more Chromos rewards players receive in battles. By using Chromos, players can evolve cards to legendary rarity, with the evolution process requiring players to sacrifice and burn cards, creating scarcity.
Inspired by rogue-lite and Souls-like games, losses in Final Form are severe, with players losing almost everything and having to restart with limited edition cards.
Final Form’s collectible card system includes a standard set of rules for determining card rarity, health, attack power, abilities, etc. Each limited edition card set is created in collaboration with renowned artists, celebrities, and athletes, including former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson. Inspired by traditional cards, this meticulously designed system maximizes versatility to meet various potential collectible card game needs.
The game was initially developed on Solana and announced its migration to XAI last June, with plans to launch by the end of the year. However, this full-chain game, which has been in development for over two years, has yet to be released, with the official release date still pending.
Ex Populus is led by a seasoned team from Pixar, Ubisoft, Activision, Blizzard, Wargaming, and other companies. Another action/shooter game they developed, LamoVerse, will also be launched on XAI. Little information has been disclosed about LamoVerse, with the early access version initially planned for release early this year.
Chains Of The Eternals
Chains Of The Eternals is an open-world MMORPG type full-chain game supporting more than 10 players in a single game. Inspired by Dofus and World of Warcraft, the core gameplay is based on PvE battles. Players fight primordial monsters of different levels and privileges, earning rewards such as $KASH, loot, and resources. Each battle also grants players experience (XP) and levels up their characters, unlocking new spells and abilities.
As an MMORPG, Chains Of The Eternals allows players to team up with friends, battle multiple monsters in real-time, explore mysterious dungeons, and earn unique rewards. Players can also engage in faction-based combat, choosing to join either the Defenders or the Rebels and fight against other players to earn points for their faction.
In the latest development report, developers revealed that they have created a stable version called V1 Alpha. This version includes PvE combat and fully integrated multiplayer. PvE combat is fully integrated into smart contracts, synchronizing visual effects with the blockchain to ensure a smooth gaming experience.
The Lost Glitches
The Lost Glitches is a collectible card game (CCG) that combines the strategic complexity of CCGs with the immersive storytelling and character development of role-playing games (RPGs). In the world of The Lost Glitches, “Deep Space,” players ally with one of the game’s factions, creating personalized decks to engage in tactical battles. The card combat mechanics are similar to other card-fighting games built on blockchain networks like Parallel and Gods Unchained.
In April of this year, the XAI Foundation announced a partnership with game publisher Mimunga and developer Honig Studios to bring The Lost Glitches to the XAI blockchain network. The XAI Foundation also invested an undisclosed amount in the project. The Lost Glitches team claims the game will be exclusive to XAI, although it is currently only available for download through the Epic Games Store.
